Panthertown & Pisgah waterfalls 10-17-09 : This Gallery is is a combination of two weekend hikes. The first one is a solo hike to Panthertown valley with stops at Raven Rock & Greenland Creek falls on a cold cloudy day. The second part is a day hike in the Pisgah national forest. That hike was with some good friends and went from the fish hatchery to Johns Rock then up to Cedar Rock mountain then down to Grogan creek & Cedar rock falls. It was a beautiful day to watch the snow flurries on the Blue Ridge mountains!

Jocassee Kayak trip 11-1-09 : This gallery is a beautiful day trip with the Greenville canoe/kayak group to Lake Jocassee in S.C. Taking pictures from a moving kayak makes it almost impossible for sharp pictures but that does not stop me from trying!

Shining Rock Wilderness 10-3-09 : Named for a micaceous rock outcrop, Shining Rock became one of the original components of the National Wilderness Preservation System in September 1964. It is now the largest Wilderness in North Carolina, separated by only a road from Middle Prong Wilderness to the southwest. Standing at an elevation of more than 5,000 feet and boasting five peaks exceeding 6,000 feet (three within the Wilderness boundaries), Shining Rock Ledge forms the backbone of this area. Here in this series of high ridges on the north slopes of Pisgah Ridge, you'll find extremely steep and rugged terrain ranging in elevation from 3,200 feet on the banks of the West Fork of Pigeon River, a major tributary of the Tennessee River, to 6,030 feet on Cold Mountain. Almost all the trails in the area rate as difficult, and they can be hard to follow. This days hike started at Black Balsalm Mtn. at sunrise then follewed the Art Loeb trail to Ivester Gap then on to Shining Rock and back.
