Peach blossom time in South Carolina! : South Carolina peaches!

First grown in China almost 4,000 years ago, peaches have spread from their homeland to the western world via India and Persia where they were first cultivated.

Though peaches were originally planted in St. Augustine, Fla., Franciscan monks introduced them to St. Simons and Cumberland islands along Georgia's coast in 1571. By the mid-1700s peaches and plums were cultivated by the Cherokee Indians.

Hawks II : Squirrels for breakfast?

For the last few years I have had the pleasure of watching a pair of hawks raise a family. They are located in a nice grove of pine trees right next to the office and every spring they put on quite a show as they learn how to fly and eat using our little shop as the launch pad to life. I seem to always get the birds eye view even without a long lens.
The only thing that bothers the hawks is the endless battle with the mocking birds
